largest orchid farms, hosts year-round tours, as well as
the Morongo Valley Orchid Festival.

Twentynine Palms is served by the Morongo Basin
Unified School District, which includes Twentynine Palms
Junior High School and Twentynine Palms High School.
Copper Mountain College in Joshua Tree is a community
college offering two-year programs in a wide range of
subjects. The arts are thriving in Twentynine Palms and
surrounding areas, including several art galleries,
three community theaters and Twentynine Palms’ own
world-class outdoor mural project depicting the area’s
culture and history. The city also boasts a writer’s
guild. Nearby Pioneertown is a real find for western
movie buffs. Created as a movie set in the 1940s,
Pioneertown served as the backdrop for films featuring
Gene Autry, The Cisco Kid and many others.
Year-Round Activities and Special Events
There’s
something for everyone in Twentynine Palms, a city with
two community parks, a public swimming pool, a classic
drive-in movie theater and an outstanding parks and
recreation program. Organized adult sports include
co-ed, church league and men’s softball, basketball,
soccer and volleyball. The youth sports program offers
soccer, flag football, girls’ volleyball and, boys’ and
girls’ basketball. Residents also can take advantage of
city-sponsored summer day camp programs, Red Cross
swimming lessons and special-interest classes such as
Tae Kwon Do, aerobics, scrapbooking and guitar-playing.
Among the city’s popular annual events are the
Twentynine Palms Wild West Gran Prix Motorcycle Races,
the downtown Street Fair and Car Show, the Pioneer Days
Celebration and the Winter Light Parade.
